More horrific then the ethics and behavior of Purdue and the Sackler family, is the story of how the financial resources that should help those whose lives were destroyed by prescription opiates were protected, wasted and squandered. One of the many lessons in Unsettled is that companies like Purdue don't betray the people they are supposed to serve in isolation. Their destructive behavior was protected by legal systems, agency "watchdogs" and political leaders who betrayed our trust and must be reformed to prevent something similar from happening again. The length the Sacklers went to flood America the past 20 years with Oxycotin has devastated families, took our loved ones lives and left us with gaping holes in our hearts.
